RULES OF ETHICS OF THE SCIENTIFIC-PRACTICAL JOURNAL “LAW AND LIFE”
1. The scientific-practical journal “Law and Life” (hereinafter the Journal) promotes the highest standards of publication ethics and applies all possible measures against any malpractices in publication.
2. Authors, reviewers and editors are responsible to fulfill these standards.
3. Authors guarantee that:
- the manuscript is own, original work and that it has not been previously published and is not currently prepared for publication elsewhere;
- the sources of any ideas and/or words in the manuscript that are not own have been properly attributed by appropriate bibliographic references and using citations.
4. In case of copyright infringement or plagiarism, full responsibility rests with the author of the article.
5. The Editorial Board of the Scientific-Practical Journal “Law and Life” does not assume any responsibility for the authors’ violation of the regulations included in the copyright legislation and for plagiarism.
6. If a case of copyright infringement/plagiarism is discovered, the manuscript will be rejected or a published article will be withdrawn.
7. The journal is not responsible for the opinions of the authors contained in the published articles.
8. Manuscript development must meet the requirements for editing. The submitted manuscript must comply with the written requirements available on the Journal’s website under the heading “Publication conditions”.
9. The journal does not accept papers that have already been submitted in part or in whole in a published article or that are described in another article submitted to or accepted by other electronic or print publications. In case of a redundant publication, the manuscript will be rejected or a published article will be withdrawn.
10. Theoretical and empirical data must be accurately represented in the manuscript.
11. Knowingly submitting false or falsified data may constitute grounds for rejection or withdrawal of the published article manuscript.
12. Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission to include any images/artwork or documents/text for which they do not own copyright in their articles, or to adapt such images/artwork or documents/text for inclusion in their articles.
13. The copyright holder must be explicitly aware that the images/artwork or documents/text will be freely available online as part of the article.
14. Authors’ names should be listed on the article in the order of their contribution to the article. All authors take responsibility for their own contributions.
15. Only those individuals who have made a substantial contribution should be credited as authors. The corresponding author must ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included in the article and that all listed co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the article and agreed to its publication.
16. The sources of financial support of the research materialized in the manuscript (grants, scholarships, etc.) must be mentioned in the paper in a footnote attached to the title of the article.
17. Authors of a manuscript will sign a statement agreeing that the manuscript accepted for publication in the Journal will appear in paper format and online on the website and will be freely available and free of charge to the user or his institution.
18. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of articles in the Journal without seeking prior permission from the publisher or author, but they should follow the specified conditions:
- to mention the name (of the authors), the title of the article, the respective article that is published in the Scientific Journal “Law and Life” and to indicate the cited page(s) of the journal;
- to reproduce the material exactly when quoted, used, discussed or replicated;
19. Authors whose manuscripts have been selected for publication in the Journal will be required to complete a copyright statement that the manuscript belongs to them, that the sources have been correctly cited, that they have not reproduced material from unauthorized sources, and that the manuscript has not already been published in other place.
20. In case of discovery of significant errors or inaccuracies in the articles published in the Journal, the author has the obligation to promptly notify the editors and cooperate with them to correct the article or withdraw it as appropriate.
21. Manuscripts received for publication in the Journal will be reviewed using the “double-blind peer review system” following international scientific journal standards.
22. Any article submitted for publication will be evaluated by the Review Board composed of reviewers from the Journal’s database.
23. The review will be done on an anonymous basis (the name of the author is not disclosed to the reviewers; the name of the reviewers is not disclosed to the author).
24. The procedure for evaluating and reviewing articles is described in the Methodology regarding the review procedures for scientific articles published in “Law and Life” Journal (see https://academy.police.md/reviste/procedura-de-prezentare-si-recenzare-a-articolelor-lv).
25. Reviewers are required to decline an invitation to review a manuscript if the content of the manuscript does not correspond to their area of expertise or in case of a conflict of interest.
26. Information or ideas obtained by evaluators through the peer review process must be kept confidential and must not be used for personal advantage.
27. All manuscripts received for review should be treated as confidential documents and should not be presented or discussed with others.
28. When conducting their evaluations, reviewers are required to make it so objectively as possible, refraining from engaging in personal criticism of the author(s).
29. Reviewers should draw the attention of the Editorial Board to the major similarities that the manuscript presents with other published articles or works.
30. Following the assessment, the evaluators can recommend the following: publication of the article, publication of the article only if it will be modified in accordance with the observations made in the Evaluation Sheet; ban on publication of the article.
31. The Editor-in-Chief has the ultimate responsibility to decide whether a manuscript submitted to the Journal should be published, and in this respect, he is guided by the evaluations carried out by scientific reviewers, by the provisions of these Rules and the anti-plagiarism assessment of the manuscript.
32. Reviewers will evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content, regardless of the race, gender, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the author(s).
