About the Magazine

“Law and Life” is the first periodical scientific-practical magazine published in the Republic of Moldova since 1991 in the field of legal sciences. Starting with the year 2022, the magazine was registered within the Doctoral School of the Academy “Ştefan cel Mare” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, a prestigious higher university institution, whose teaching strategy is based on research.

Affiliation with the Academy “Ştefan cel Mare” determined the progressive development of the magazine “Law and Life” on a national and international level. On February 24, 2023, the journal was included in the list of scientific publications from the Republic of Moldova accredited to type C in the Legal Sciences profile.

The magazine is intended for publication and dissemination of the most valuable scientific studies developed in the field of legal sciences by researchers from the country and abroad. The main purpose of the journal is the research and substantiation of innovative scientific results.

The main objectives of the magazine are:

  • implementation of the European Union acquis in the legal system of the Republic of Moldova;
  • realization of national and institutional strategies for scientific research;
  • raising the quality of scientific studies by innovative standards implementing of research and scientific ethics;
  • democratization of access to published scientific research;
  • skills development and professional knowledge promotion;
  • dissemination of new scientific results obtained in various fields of law;
  • promotion of open science in the field of legal sciences, etc.

The magazine appears four times a year and is printed at the printing house of the editorial-printing department of the Academy “Ştefan cel Mare”. All volumes (issues) of the magazine are available on the web page of the Academy “Ştefan cel Mare” https://www.academy.police.md/editii-lv.

Currently, a special emphasis is placed on the internationalization of the magazine, this desideratum being achieved by publishing articles in languages of international circulation and active participation of authors from other countries (Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Luxembourg, etc.).

Authors are not charged for the publication of scientific articles in Law and Life Magazine.

The full name of the publication is the scientific-practical magazine Law and Life, ISSN 2587-4365; E-ISSN 2587-4373.

The copyright on the publication belongs to the Academy “Ştefan cel Mare”, and the author owns the copyright for each article. The responsibility for the content of the articles rests with the authors; respectively they bear full responsibility for plagiarism.

The Scientific Council recommends to authors that the size of the articles submitted for publication should not exceed 20.000-40.000 characters (without spaces). Nota bene!

The magazine no longer operates with the website http://www.legeasiviata.in.ua/, which was administered until 2019.

Review methods

All articles received for publication in the scientific journal “Law and Life”, are admitted in electronic format at the address: legea.si.viatza@gmail.com.

During the first stage, the Scientific Board examines how the authors respect the technical editing and content conditions. In case of non-compliance with technical editing and content conditions, the article will be returned to the authors to remedy the identified deficiencies.

During the second stage, articles are reviewed in a PEER REVIEW format. The applicable review procedure is described in the Methodology regarding review procedures for scientific articles published in “Law and Life” Magazine (see https://academy.police.md/reviste/procedura-de-prezentare-si-recenzare-a-articolelor-lv). The articles are offered for review to two anonymous reviewers, the name and surname of the author remaining unknown, as well as the institution he represents.

Only reviewers registered in the Journal’s Register of Experts are reviewing articles, according to the following criteria:

  • novelty and originality of research;
  • methodological support of research;
  • scientific support of research;
  • scientific relevance of results;
  • drafting and technical content of the paper;
  • compliance with scientific ethics and deontology;
  • correspondence of the publication with the institution’s research strategies;
  • the author’s personal contribution to the development of the research field;
  • the potential to deepen/advance knowledge in the chosen field;
  • possibility of using the publication as didactic material.

During the third stage, articles that have received a favorable opinion from the reviewers are published in the current issue of the journal, and the reviewers’ suggestions for articles that do not meet the scientific requirements are forwarded to the authors for remediation. If the authors fix the objections, the articles are re-evaluated according to the procedures described above.

Research ethics and deontology

The scientific-practical magazine “Law and Life” is committed to supporting the highest standards of publishing ethics and applies the possible measures against plagiarism and unauthorized borrowing. The ethical standards are provided in the Journal’s Ethics Rules.

Each author whose article has been accepted for publication must complete a declaration regarding the original content and assignment of the right to publish the article to the Journal.

The copyright on the publication “Law and Life” belongs to the Magazine. For each article, the author owns the copyright. 

Anti-plagiarism policy

In order to ensure compliance with deontology, the prevention of scientific forgery and plagiarism, the authenticity of the texts to be published in the “Law and Life” scientific journal will be checked by the plagiarism detection program Plagiarism detector. There will not be published, and those published will be withdrawn if the articles contain elements of plagiarism or suspected plagiarism, scientific fraud or falsified data and results, as defined by the Code of Ethics and Professional Deontology of Scientific and Scientific-Teaching Staff approved by the decision of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research from 18.12.2018.

Open access

The scientific-practical magazine “Law and Life” offers free, real and immediate access to all articles from the date of their online publication. The full editions of the magazine and each individual article are published online. There are no charges for readers to download articles for academic use. To ensure open access, the institution also has the DSpace Repository where all articles published in the Journal are stored and archived.
The magazine is also indexed in the CEEOL, ibn.idsi.md, ROAD, ZENODO, OPEN AIRE databases.
